The singer made the disclosure on Thursday while addressing fans who had been concerned about her sudden disappearance online.
Ayra, who had not posted for about a week before briefly returning to social media, said she initially expected a quick recovery but encountered unexpected complications after the procedure.
In a message shared on her Instagram Story, she apologised to fans for her absence and assured them she would return once she has fully recovered.
"Hey Mobstarrs, I'm sorry you're not seeing as much of me as I would like. I had major surgery a few days ago. I was hoping it would be a quick recovery but it was more complicated than they expected.
"I just need a bit of rest and I'll be back. Starrgirl is coming so soooon," she wrote.
The singer did not disclose the nature of the surgery but reassured fans that she is focused on resting and recovering before returning to work.
